Our guest speaker was Mr. Francis X. Mancini, Esq., Executive Vice President of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA). Mr. Mancini spoke to the group of the ongoing issues concerning banks in the insurance industry. While first recognized as an issue, over 140 years ago, this topic remains at the forefront of the agenda of agents' associations countrywide. He mentioned the efforts that have taken place by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) to level the playing field as between agents and banks

Mr. Mancini responded to questions from the group relative to the Massachusetts automobile marketplace, stating that his association maintains its concerns about commercial automobile capacity and the shrinking numbers of carriers in the personal auto side of the marketplace. He spoke briefly to the developments concerning credit scoring by informing the group that presently, this topic is being handled by the Massachusetts legislature.
